Eric is the founding principal of Astral Engineers. He graduated from Iowa State University in 2009. He is a licensed mechanical and fire protection engineer and is LEED AP BD+C certified. Being both a mechanical and fire protection engineer gives him a unique level of expertise regarding life safety engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Eric started his career in Saint Louis, MO where he designed mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. In 2017 he relocated to Southern California. Working in two very different climates gives him a deep understanding of the impact of climate on engineering designs, allowing him to author an article published in ASHRAE Journal titled Designing HVAC For Humid vs. Arid Climates.

Ryan Shaw
Plumbing Engineering Manager

Ryan graduated from ITT Technical Institute in 2002 and quickly found a passion for plumbing design. He is Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) and has extensive knowledge and experience with fire sprinkler designs. He is a member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) and the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA).  Ryan's experience has led to a vast knowledge of various piping systems and the liquids and gases that flow through them.

James Lessard
Electrical Engineering Manager

James graduated from Ohio University in 2006. He is a licensed electrical engineer in several states and has designed projects throughout the U.S. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Electrical Board of Missouri and Illinois (EMBI). He also hosts regular webinars/lectures and publishes articles for CSE Magazine. James is a recognized industry expert and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others.
